Reducing costs in healthcare

Electric tug specialist MasterMover will be showcasing its SmartMover range at the Healthcare Estates show in Manchester. The event takes place from October 10-11, 2017 at Manchester Central. MasterMover will be exhibiting on stand A11, where visitors can participate in product demonstrations and learn more about the company’s rental flexihire service.

The Healthcare Estates exhibition invites professionals at any level, from the private and public healthcare sectors, to learn about the latest innovations in six key areas including healthcare design, hospital engineering and facility management. These developments aim to assist healthcare professionals in delivering quality patient care despite frequent budget cuts.

Exhibiting at the show for the first time, MasterMover plans to show how those working in the healthcare sector can use the SmartMover range to improve their practices to be more efficient and reduce costs as a result.

MasterMover representatives will demonstrate how these electric tugs can be used in different hospital departments, from laundry and maintenance to transporting waste bins and deliveries.

“A research report comparing the healthcare systems of eleven countries showed that the NHS scored highest on quality, access and efficiency,” explains Andy Owen, managing director of MasterMover. “Yet with an aging population requiring more frequent medical attention and insufficient funding to support this, healthcare facilities are looking for different ways they can reduce their spending while maintaining high quality standards.

“One way to reduce costs is by improving porter efficiency. The SmartMover range has been designed to move heavy loads with ease, so that hospitals can eliminate the non-value-added time spent by nurses to complete porter duties.

“MasterMover research shows that by purchasing an electric tug, 19,500 man-hours could be released over the estimated five-year lifetime of the machine, saving around £139,000.

“An additional benefit of MasterMover’s machines is that healthcare procurement managers do not have to outlay the cost for this equipment but can choose a rental scheme. Flexihire allows companies to increase or decrease the length of its equipment hire at any time, with only a four-week commitment. In the healthcare sector, being able to scale up or down your operation to meet service demands is critical.”

MasterMover’s range of electric tugs for healthcare are already being used by several healthcare facilities around the world, including a number of NHS trusts such as the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS trust.
